A pep talk

A little about homework:I believe that homework shouldn't hurt. It shouldn't hurt your family time, it shouldn't hurt your brains, and it shouldn't hurt your budget. There will be no formal homework assignments this year. Instead, I have some suggested activities for your child to work on outside of school.
Students should try to read a minimum of 20 minutes each day outside of school. This reading can be in many forms: novel, magazine, graphic novel, poetry, articles, etc. Students can read alone or with someone. If an adult is reading to a child, I ask that the child can see the text as it is being read if it is meant to be in place of the independent reading. Students should spend time practicing their multiplication, addition, or subtraction facts. The work we do in math class will become easier once facts are mastered. We use the math curriculum Investigations. One of the resources that comes with this curriculum is the family letter with explanations and suggested activities to try at home at the start of each unit. Please be in touch with questions! |
